Internet Surveillance Cameras Versus
Traditional CCTV Cameras
The initial per-camera cost of wireless Internet cameras
(also referred to IP cameras) are generally less than those
of comparable Close Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras
because wireless IP cameras do not require coax cabling to
connect each camera to a central CCTV-DVR. However, in many large commercial facilities
these higher initial costs are more than off-set by the ease
of network monitoring/control, and lower on-going
support costs of CCTV-based camera systems. Conversely, Internet camera
systems are more suited for small business customers because
they can be integrated into an existing
small business network, and can utilize existing computers for
surveillance control and
monitoring functions.
Figure 1 shows the
components contained in these two different surveillance
camera technologies.

Key
Features of our Wireless Internet Surveillance
Camera Systems
A small entry-level surveillance camera system that includes from one to
four wireless cameras, can be easily
integrated into your existing network. We support IP cameras
from several leading surveillance camera vendors. These cameras are actually
stand-alone web servers that can provide advanced surveillance functions
such as remote monitoring, motion-detection, 2-way audio, Email messaging,
P/T/Z, and FTP image uploading. (Some high-end IP cameras
include external connector that can be used to connect them
directly to an alarm system or other building security
system.) IP cameras can be managed and
controlled from a computer attached to your local network, or by an
Internet-connected computer (or smartphone) located anywhere in the world.
These
cameras support multiple layers of security such as password
protection and encryption, to prevent unauthorized access. Figure 2
illustrates the primary components of an IP-based
surveillance camera system.

Key
Features of our Wired Close Circuit Television (CCTV) Surveillance
Camera System with Internet Access
CCTV surveillance camera systems can range from
four to sixty-four cameras attached to CCTV-DVR. This CCTV-DVR
is used to monitor and
control the surveillance camera system; and record all activity detected by any of the
attached cameras. We support CCTV cameras from multiple
leading surveillance camera vendors. These cameras provide advanced surveillance functions
such as remote monitoring, motion-detection, 2-way audio, Email messaging,
P/T/Z, patrolling, and FTP image uploading. (Some of these high-end CCTV cameras
include external connector that can be used to connect them
directly to an alarm system or other building security
system.) CCTV cameras can be monitored and
controlled from a local or remote computer attached to your local network, or by an
Internet-connected computer (or smartphone) located anywhere in the world.

Optional
IP Surveillance Camera Feature
Our standard
IP or CCTV surveillance camera systems includes all components required to
install, monitor, and support of basic surveillance
monitoring requirements. However, there are a number of optional
surveillance camera components that can add additional
surveillance functionality, and/or enable cameras to be
installed in outdoors unlighted locations. Some of these optional
features are shown in Figure 4 and include:
- All-weather enclosures that will enable
cameras to be mounted outdoors in areas such as employee
parking lots.
- Wireless CCTV cameras that do not
require coax cabling.
- Dedicated Surveillance Camera Control
Computer.
- Network-Attached Storage (NAS) drives
that can be used to store and archive surveillance images
and videos.
- Solar-powered motion-detection lighting
that will enable your outdoor cameras to provide
around-the-clock surveillance.
Our standard, out-of-the-box IP surveillance
camera will operate fine in most indoor environments. However,
the optional components shown in Figure 4. will extend these
camera systems to the point where they can be installed
outdoors, including areas where there is little or no lighting.
